Hi Barsha wine lovers! We journey into the beautiful South Africa this month with a tasty Sauv Blanc for Classico, a juicy spicy chenin blanc for Riserva. The reds for both clubs are as quaffable as you can get! It is said that winemaking in South Africa started in 1652 by a dutchman by the name of Jan van Riebeeck who thought the South African climate of cool rainy winters, the dry summers that were cooled by the Atlantic & Indian ocean sea breezes to be perfect for growing grapevines.
We hope you enjoy this months flavor packed picks!
Stonehaven Cape Point Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2016
Cape Peninsula, South Africa
As the only wine estate to be positioned on the narrow Cape Peninsula, the confluence of sea breezes from the cold Atlantic Ocean and southeasterly breezes from False Bay create ideal conditions for the slow ripening of grapes required for the creation of premium wines.
Stonehaven Sauvignon Blanc presents light and pretty notes of ripe citrus, savory herbs, lemongrass and hints of saline.
ChaMonix Rouge 2013
Franschhoek Valley, South Africa
Cabernet Sauvignon 35% Merlot 34% | Petit Verdot 20% | Malbec 11%
Boasting some of the highest planted vines in the Cape Winelands, Chamonix has around 50 hectares under vineyard.
The Rouge shows a deep ruby colour with garnet highlights on the rim. The generous bouquet suggests black- currant, cedar with scents reminiscent of red berries, spices and vanilla. The wine is amply structured: full, round and smooth on the palate with rich fruit and length of flavour. An elegant wine that can mature with time in the bottle.
Simonsig Chenin Avec Chene 2012
The 2012 Chenin Avec Chene is matured in 400-liter French oak barrels with batonnage undertaken early in the maturation. The bouquet offers plenty of tropical fruit on the nose: mille feuille, pineapple and passion fruit emerging with just a couple of swirls. The palate is well-balanced with a rounded, tropical-tinged opening: a hint of white pepper and plenty of mango and mandarin notes toward the composed finish. This is very fine. Drink now-2020.

Simonsig Pinotage 2013
Redhill, South Africa
Redhill Pinotage is a selection of the best new oak-matured wine from the famous red hills of the Simonsig Estate. A dense, opaque color, w/aromas and flavors of ripe blackberries & cherries. Lavish mouthfeel with cedar oak spice. Youthful tannins sculpt the palate into a lingering, dry finish. Aging potential of 6-8 years in the bottle.
