Hi Barsha wine lovers! Cheers to 2017! We chose delicious organic wines to help kickstart a healthier new year. Classico has a nice zippy Vernaccia and a spiced Rhone blend. This wine is made by the “soft crushing” of organically grown Vernaccia di San Gimignano grapes only. The fermentation takes place in steel tanks that are temperature controlled. Pretty Vernaccia, with good structure, balance, and charm; it is bright and zippy, with floral and citrus notes that are complimented by lively fruit.

Intense nose dominated by red & black fruit, followed by violet and resinous herbs.

Palate: black cherry & blackcurrant with sweet spices, white pepper. A tangy mouth, nourished by a final with tannins still young but very mastered.

From Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé in France to the Southern Wairau Valley of Marlborough, the Sauvignon Blanc variety takes a new dimension. The Bourgeois Family is devoted to making premium wine in a restrained and elegant style that captures the terroir and expresses it in its purest form.

Ripe tropical and citrus bouquet, with underlying flinty minerality. In the mouth the wine is textural and rich from the lees aging with layers of minerals, lime, orange blossom and profound acidity balancing this dry, extremely elegant wine. Organically grown.

Owned and operated by father and son, Porter Creek is a winery and vineyard estate situated just adjacent to Porter Creek (one of the major tributaries to the Russian River on Westside Road) in the most prestigious part of the Russian River Valley appellation. Porter Creek focuses on organic, hillside-grown, vineyard designated wines of grape varietals from the Burgundy and Rhone. Like previous vintages this wine shows dark ripe fruits on the nose and soft tannins, but with more concentration due to the extremely low yield of one ton per acre.

From the great wine region of Piemonte comes La Tur: a dense, creamy blend of pasteurized cow, goat and sheep milk. Runny and oozing around the perimeter with a moist, cakey, palette-coating paste, its flavor is earthy and full, with a lingering lactic tang. The effect is like ice cream served from a warm scoop: decadent and melting from the outside in. La Tur is one of our best sellers!

Jean-Baptiste’s daughter, Laure, is the 15th generation to participate in the family wine business. Creamy with floral nose evolves subtly on fruity notes of pear and Golden apple. Lots of  finesse and freshness!

Jess Stonestreet Jackson and Barbara Banke established the estate in 1995. Their son Christopher & his wife Ariel continue the legacy. Stonestreet is one of the most expansive mountain vineyards in the world and produces a distinctive collection of single vineyard wines — powerful Cabernet Sauvignon, soulful Chardonnay and electric Sauvignon Blanc.

Vibrant aromas of brambly blackberry, black currant, smoky tobacco leaf, & sage with subtle undertones of white peppercorn & dried cranberry. Exotic fruit aromas. Juicy palate with a touch of honey, pear, citrus, apple. Big!
Riesling: A white wine that may either be bone dry or fairly sweet, excellent with any dishes that are spicy, salty or sweet. Whether from Alsace, Germany or Washington – Riesling wines are a top pick white wine for pairing with Thanksgiving dinner. Riesling’s innate flavors of apple, apricot, honey and its clarifying acidity give it a significant pairing edge with the likes of sweet potatoes, turkey meat and spice-laden or herb-filled stuffing.

Albarino and Viognier, while they may not boast the best initial name recognition of say…Chardonnay, these white wine varieties. They offer the perfect opportunity to shake up the Thanksgiving table and take your guests on a little wine adventure, while still maintaining perfect pairing power.

Couloir 2013 Pinot Noir

Spice, raspberry, crisp.
Pinot Noir: This red wine is a traditional favorite for Thanksgiving. Pinot Noir’s subtle earthy undertones and often mushroom inspired flavors surround the fruit features of the wine and tend to show well with the traditional flavors of turkey and stuffing.

Fleurie Ponciago Gamay Beaujolais, France 2012

Cherry, blueberry, mineral, delicate length.
Beaujolais Nouveau: A light, fruity red wine, from the Gamay grape, that goes quite well with turkey and all of the fixings. This wine is released from France on the third Thursday of November, just in time to highlight your Thanksgiving feast!

Hendry Zinfandel Blocks 7 & 22, Napa, CA 2012

Ripe blueberry, cherry, spice, oak, chocolate finish.
Zinfandel: A fuller bodied red wine that ups the intensity from a Pinot Noir, but still maintains a balancing effect on many traditional Thanksgiving side dishes. This would be a great wine pick for those looking for a heartier red wine with the capacity to accommodate spice, bitter and sweet flavor profiles.

Syrah/Shiraz: The Syrah grape can bring a spicy edge or a meaty character to the table often increasing the complexity, while graciously handling the cornucopia of flavors in a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The prevalent peppery notes of Syrah will partner well with the herb-infused stuffing and both the white and dark turkey meat.

Flavoured with herbs and orange peel aiding very much in stimulating the appetite and cleansing the palate. Lazzaroni Amaro has an aromatic nose, sweet with a slight bitter finish, neither too thin nor too pastry and a rich, soft, clear, amber color. Add over ice or neat. 

Carpano Antica Formula Vermouth, Italy

Great on the rocks with an orange slice or a special Manhattan.
Very Fine ingredients of Madagascan vanilla, saffron, Italian Wormwood, Burnt Sugar. 
Nose: bouquet of vanilla with spicy, citrusy and dried fruit notes of almond, raisins and cloves.
Palate: well-rounded, rich vanilla taste that picks up the aromas from the nose. Combines well with the bitter orange, dates, cocoa beans and saffron flavours.

Hi Barsha wine lovers! To show our gratitude, we have picked out amazing wines to enhance your Thanksgiving table. The Reds are beautifully structured, well balanced with deep personality. If your turkey is dry, don’t fret, these juicy reds will keep everyone happy. The whites are crisp, dry, and refreshing like the first morning of Autumn. Perfectly pair them a variety of Thanksgiving appetizers and entrees from deviled eggs to honey glazed ham. Thank you all!

Brooks Pinot Blanc 2015

Willamette Valley, OR

Brooks is passionate about biodynamic and organic farming. Their Pinot Blanc is a veritable fruit salad in the nose, with cantaloupe, grapefruit, apples, pears and nectarine. Hints of potpourri, lychee, rose petal, orange peel and cold cream. Plenty of ripe fruit in the mouth, with white peach, kumquat, kiwi and nectarine. Rich and vibrant, lush and fruity with a slight taste of fresh herbs, like tarragon and chervil. Medium bodied, with moderate acidity, it finishes long and fruity with lychee nut and perfume.

Maison Passot is a small 11 hectare family property spread over 4 crus in Beaujolais. The family tends 21 plots, half of which are in Chiroubles, “the most Beaujolais of the crus”, with its thin sandy, degraded granite soils that product very delicate wines. Light vivid red. Mineral-accented red fruit and floral pastille aromas show very good clarity. Juicy, offering zesty strawberry and bitter cherry flavors and a hint of blood orange.

Habit Gruner Veltliner 2015

Santa Ynez Valley, Ca

Jeff Fischer is the sole proprietor and winemaker or habit which he founded in Los Olivos in 2008 after years of making in his garage in Los Angles. Fisher’s wine focus on high acidity, low alcohol, and strive to showcase varietal.  The Habit is 100% Grüner Veltliner, the grapes are picked and sorted by hand then aged in stainless steel. Fresh jasmine, juniper, mint , grapefruit, white pepper and lime notes. Medium body and very well focused.

Hooray for the upcoming holidays! We brought you a deliciously addicting mountain cheese that’s still being made by monks in the Pyrenees mountains of France and a wonderful Fra Mani Pistachio salami made right here in California using Italian traditions. Both are incredible on your Barsha baguette!

Abbeye de Belloc, Raw sheep’s milk

Pyrenees, France

Abbaye de Bel’loc is still made in the traditional manner by Benedictine Monks at the abbey of Notre-Dame de Belloc. Abbaye de Belloc has a true Basque character, and it is believed that many centuries ago the monks from the Belloc Monastery first taught the Basque shepherds how to make cheese. 

Firm, dense, rich and creamy texture. The taste resembles burnt caramel and there is a distinctive lanolin aroma. Ageing process of the cheese ranges from four to ten months. Addictive!

Fra Mani Rosa Salami

Berkeley, CA

Salame Rosa is a salame cotto (cooked salame) with origins in the city of Bologna, Italy. Made from prime cuts from the shoulder, coarsely chopped to create a distinctive mosaic face and speckled with small cubes of plate fat cut from high on the hog. Dry roasted with a hint of natural fruitwood smoke. Mildly seasoned with coriander, white pepper and mace, and studded with pistachio nuts.
