Louis Baisinbert Givry 1er Les Combes Pinot Noir, Burgundy, France 2013

6 in stock

Derived from the Gallic term ‘’Cumba’’ meaning ‘’valley’’, ‘’Les Combes’’ refers to a very stony wine growing slope that contributes to the diversity of the soils, hillsides and exposures. The Appellation d’Origine Controlée ‘’Les Combes’’ was established in 1946. The vineyards are east-facing and the production of Premier Cru covers 1.5 ha of surface area consisting of clay-limestone soils.

In the toponomy of the Burgundian wine region, ‘’Les Combes’’ were hollowed into the rocky cliffs in the last ice age by meltwater streams which resulted in wide valleys.

With its deep, intense red hue, this wine offers remarkable aromatic strength combined with black fruits, minerality and a touch of leather on the nose.

The palate of this Givry 1er Cru ‘’Les Combes’’ discloses a full, rich texture which gives way to a delicate minerality. Its promising structure indicates excellent potential for bottle age.
